MARCH 8 – FRIDAY

Listen to this song in whatever posture you find meaningful.  Use it as your prayer today.  Write down anything particular that God brings to mind or if something resonates.

God, I give you what I can today
These scattered ashes that I hide away
I lay it all at your feet

From the corners of my deepest shame
The empty places where I’ve worn your name
Show me the love, I say I believe
Oh, help me to lay it down
Oh Lord, I lay it down

Oh, let this be where I die
My Lord, with thee crucified
Be lifted high as my Kingdom’s fall
Once and for all, once and for all

There is victory in my Savior’s loss
And the crimson flowing from the cross
Pour over me, pour over me, yes

Oh, let this be where I die
My Lord, with thee crucified
Be lifted high as my Kingdom’s fall
Once and for all, once and for all
Oh Lord, I lay it down
Oh Lord, I lay it down
Help me to lay it down
Oh Lord, I lay it down

Oh, let this be where I die
My Lord, with thee crucified
And be lifted high as my Kingdom’s fall
Once and for all, once and for all

MARCH 7 - THURSDAY

Colossians 1:15-18 - We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment.

St. Francis’ Prayer:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

MARCH 6 – ASH WEDNESDAY

Take whatever posture feels appropriate.  Light a candle if you want.

Breath in deeply saying “from dust I came”

Breath out slowly saying “to dust I will return”

Repeat this until you can allow yourself to recognize your mortality and grieve it.

What thoughts arise?  What emotions come up?  Do you feel anything physically in your body?

Life, lovely while it lasts, is soon over.
Life as we know it, precious and beautiful, ends.
The body is put back in the same ground it came from.
The spirit returns to God, who first breathed it.
Ecclesiastes 12:6-7 MSG
