Pre-Lent Preparation


What is one area of your life that you most long to be transformed?


What promise of God is the most difficult for you to believe?  Why?


When you feel exhausted, empty or a sense of longing, what quick fix do you use to try and satisfy, avoid or numb those feelings?  What have been the consequences of this practice?





Light a candle and take whatever posture feels right.

Pray over the answers to these questions.

Tell God where you long to experience his transforming power.

Confess your doubts and what promises are most difficult for you to believe.

Confess the ways you have tried to satisfy, avoid or numb yourself.

Ask God to fill those places, to give you a desire for His presence instead of seeking satisfaction elsewhere.

Ask God to reveal to you a Lenten practice that will help you lean into his presence over the next few weeks.  This could be something you want to give up for Lent or something you want to add into your routine.
